Well, the answer to this question is no, henna will not color you body if you mix it with black soap and scrubbed the body with a kessa glove in a steam room or steam bath.The skin will be softer and ready for a scrub. Combined with the action of the Kessa glove will remove impurities and dead skin.

In the original recipe, Moroccan women use a combination of herbs with Moroccan black soap and henna.In this article i will give you two recipes.

The first recipe is what we use when we do not have a lot of time to shower, it’s easy and does not contain many ingredients.

The second recipe needs several ingredients but it will give you a good result that you will enjoy.

First recipe

Ingredients:

  • 3 tablespoon Moroccan black soap
  • 2 tablespoon Colorless henna
  • 1 tablespoon Alum powder
  • 1 teaspoon of lemon juice(for non sensitive skin,you can replace lemon juice with rose water)

Directions:

  1. Mix the black soap and alum well to get a slightly creamy liquid mixture.
  2.  Add henna,yeast and lemon juice or rose water to the mixture and mix them very well.
  3. Before starting, the bathroom should be filled with steam to help unclog your pores and absorb the soap; so close the bathroom door, let the hot water run while filling the bathtub, and sit in the steam for about 15 minutes.   4. Apply the mixture on a warm and wet body. Avoid the face and eyes. Leave on for up to 10 minutes then rinse with warm water.
  5. Your skin is ready for a scrub with the Kessa glove.
  6.  Put on the gloves and rub them up and down your body in circulate motion. this will remove all your dead skin cells, and increase the circulation in your arms and legs, helping to reduce cellulite.
  7. wash off all dead skin.

  9. After you have rinsed off the clay,dry and moisturize with Argan oil or your body lotion.
  10. you should always drink water after taking Moroccan hammam.

Second recipe

Ingredient

  • 3 tablespoon Moroccan black soap
  • 2 tablespoon Colorless henna
  • 1 teaspoon organic curcuma
  • 1 tablespoon Damascus rose petal powder
  • 1 tablespoon lavender
  • 1 tablespoon chamomile powder
  • 1 tablespoon rosemary powder
  • 1 tablespoon basil powder
  • 1 tablespoon sidr powder
  • 1 tablespoon cloves powder
  • 1 teaspoon of saffron strands

Directions:

  1.  Mix the powder of curcuma, rose petal, lavender , chamomile, rosemary, basil, sidr, cloves and saffron.put this powder in a clean jar, we will need only one tablespoon of this powder for each hammam.
  2. Take one tablespoon of the powder and mix it with henna and black soap, add rose water or warm water to get a creamy consistency.
  3. Apply the steps from 3 to 10 above.

how often you should do this:
A weekly exfoliation is recommended.

    Can the plain moroccan black soap be used daily as an ordinary shower gel without the elaborate hammam process…..?

      Fahmeida, there is no harm in using the black soap in a daily basis. But it is meant to be used for Hammam or during normal showers. Black soap is a peeling soap used for body peeling.
